Roots Run Deep

Before there was a shop, there were group rides, trail days, and years spent volunteering. Essential Cycles grew out of the North Shore riding community—leading rides, digging trail, showing up. That history isn't separate from the business; it's why the business exists.

Today we host weekly rides, maintain the trails we love, and partner with organizations working to make mountain biking more welcoming. Here's how we give back to the trails and people who shaped us.

Women-Owned Since 2012

Essential Cycles started as a women-owned shop on the North Shore. From day one, giving back has been part of how we operate—not a marketing initiative, but the way we were raised in this community.
